Gary Mitchell

If the name Gary Mitchell, or voice, sounds familiar, then you remember Joplin radio as it was in the 70s.

Gary always wanted to be a radio disc jockey, especially as a kid in the 60s, and after attending radio broadcast and licensing schools, he landed his first job in 1972.

During a hectic decade of radio jobs nationwide, including three Joplin stations, Gary made a huge career change in 1983. That continued until retirement in 2020, but his passion for radio never faded.

In 2021, a rare opportunity to return to broadcasting was presented by Classic Hits 93.9 to play the same music Gary had loved and worked with many years ago.
